Our task for this family’s Upper West Side apt. was to open up the traditional plan to create a more modern flow and allow views through the whole apt., where the client could be in the kitchen and look through the several rooms to the living room where the kids play. We also decided to respect the original style as much as possible and to "touch lightly", often recreating or rebuilding existing construction to make the renovation all but disappear.
