Vive la Résistance

Resistance is a small NYC architecture and design office based in Brooklyn. We are rooted in Modernism, but with Humanist ideals and a respect for history. Our renovation work is positioned in the overlapping area between architecture and interior design.
For well over a dozen years Resistance has shown that our problem-solving and pragmatic approach needn't lead to dry, soulless modern spaces. We've proven that high-level design and cost-effectiveness are not incompatible!
As designers we often pursue a certain level of friction or subtle tension between an old or existing space and its (new) contents. That is the resistance. We love newness, and contrasts, and the unexpected, but only in careful check. The work is never over-the-top or inappropriate, just the right amount of resistance.
